From us to you
We are proud to announce our partnership with Tiamat, a French pioneer in sodium-ion batteries, to develop the NaCRe Process project: an innovation dedicated to the recycling of Na-ion batteries, a new generation destined to play a key role in the energy transition.
As sodium-ion technology gains in maturity, linking production and recycling from the outset is a strategic issue of sovereignty. With NaCRe, we are laying the foundations for a complete, circular and competitive European industry, from the material to the resource's second life.
The project, accredited by TEAM2, is based on a natural complementarity:
- TIAMAT: production of durable, safe, lithium- and cobalt-free sodium-ion batteries
- MECAWARE: clean, acid- and sulfate-free recycling technology, already validated on NMC chemistries and now adapted to the specific characteristics of Na-ion (including vanadium from the first generations).
Common objective: to recycle production scrap and future Na-ion waste, then reinject the recovered metals into the manufacture of new cathodes. Ultimately, the vision is clear: a local, circular loop integrated directly into the Tiamat gigafactory.
"Our aim is to contribute to a sovereign, resilient and environmentally-friendly industry, by upgrading resources at the very heart of European industrial sites."
- Arnaud Villers d'Arbouet, President of Mecaware
Another step towards a more sustainable, cleaner, more European battery industry.
