Development of an innovative recycling protocol for end-of-life batteries

Project objectives

  • Maximize the recycling of critical battery metals to support the energy transition.
  • Complete recycling of battery components, aiming for the highest possible recovery rate.
  • Achieve TRL 5 on the SEPAR8 process, guaranteeing industrial validation of the process at pilot scale.

  • Reincorporate recycled materials into the manufacture of new batteries, with particular attention to environmental impact.

  • Study the possibility of applying the process to other sources of batteries and electronic products at the end of their life cycle, ensuring the sustainability of the circular model.

We are developing a process for use in a hazardous deposit, and through this project, we are studying the industrial risks at each stage as well as the measures to be implemented to eliminate or mitigate them. This work is being carried out in collaboration with INERIS.
